How to Purchase the Right Tattoo Kit!

No matter whether you are a beginner in the art of tattooing or a seasoned professional, there are some important factors that need to be kept in mind when it comes to buying tattoo kits with needles. Although buying items such as tattoo kits that are of high quality is important, first and foremost the most important consideration while using these kits for performing this type of artwork is the safety of the person receiving the tattoo.
In order to understand how to buy the perfect tattoo kit, it is important to understand more about the components involved and how to use them properly. When the various features are understood along with how the components are used, it is easier to choose the right tattoo kit for the job.
There are various types of tattoo kits with needles available on the market that range from tattoo starter kits to kits containing more advanced products and features. The safety of the tattoo kits differ, and since the quality of the kit goes hand in hand with the safety, it is a good idea to know more about the various items included in these kits and what makes them safe. Some of these items include :

 Tattoo Needles

Tattoo needles come in a wide assortment of styles and to the untrained eye, all needles may appear to be the same. When choosing the right needle kept in mind you are going to need to buy single use needles. This is to obtain sterility and safety for you and your clients.
Although it might be tempting to reuse a needle, in order to reduce the risk of spreading infections or serious diseases such HIV. Tattoo needles are intended for a one-time use always come in sterile packets so they are sanitary and ready to use, which also makes them more convenient for some people.

 Tattoo Tubes

This is an essential component that is included in most new tattoo kits with needles are tattoo tubes. You should look for the ones that are sold for as a single use item. Just like tattoo needles, tattoo tubes meant for one use helps ensure that the tubes are ones that are sterile and then they are disposed of and a fresh tube is used when needed.

 Autoclaves

Besides tattoo needles and tubes meant for one-time use, there are also many tattoo kits that come with loose needles and stainless steel tubes. There is nothing wrong with these types of kits; however, if you are going to use them you must have an autoclave as well as other necessary solutions and cleaners in order to ensure the sterility of the tattooing equipment before each use.
An autoclave is a device used to sterilize loose tattoo needles and stainless steel tubes, among other things. The sterilization process is achieved by a process that involves securing the tattooing equipment inside the device for approximately 15-20 minutes and allowing highly pressurized saturated steam to sanitize the equipment. The time necessary for complete sterilization depends upon the autoclave purchased, and it is important to always follow the manufacturer's recommended procedure and time in order to ensure properly sterilization.

 Tattoo Ink

Tattoo ink is another item that is often one of the components found in tattoo starter kits that come with needles. Tattoo ink varies by the type of kit manufactured and there often many differences in the types of ink included with such kits. When you are looking for a tattoo kit that also comes with tattoo ink, there are some things that you need to take into consideration. Buying a starter kit that includes tattoo ink in a variety of different colors as well as ones that offer high quality ink are two of the most important things you should look for in a new tattoo starter kit with needles.
The design of the ink cartridge is another factor to take into consideration as well. Some tattoo kits can come with ink cartridges that either do or do not have caps. While there is not a problem with buying ink cartridges that do not include caps, most tattoo artist including myself prefer to purchase the ones that do for the simple reason that the ink cap is instrumental in holding the ink in place while the tattoo is being applied, making the process a much smoother one and less stressful.

 Disposable Units

Another necessary component that a tattoo starter kit with needles should have is a disposal unit in which to place used needles. Tattoo needles should be disposed of in a biohazard container that is designed to hold the needles safely inside without the chance of the puncturing the container or falling back out. Used needles are considered a hazardous material and can pose a health and safety risk to others if they are not disposed of in the proper manner.

 Tattoo Gun

Of course, no good starter kit is complete without a tattoo machine, which is often also referred to as a tattoo gun. One of the biggest problems that a person can encounter when it comes to a tattoo gun is that they have the tendency to become corroded. When browsing through tattoo starter kits, you want to make sure that you find a kit that has a tattoo gun constructed of material that resist corrosion. Tattoo guns constructed from aluminum, steel, or iron are always good choices of metals to look for when deciding what kit to buy.
Not all tattoo guns that are sold in starter kits come with a power source and a power cord for the tattoo gun. One common power source used for operating the tattoo gun is a 110-volt or a 120-volt power system. If the gun, power source, and power cord are purchased separately, always make sure to check and see which type of power source and power cord is needed for your particular model of tattoo gun.

 Sterile Gloves

Sterile gloves are important any time that the skin of a person is being punctured, and is especially important in cases where even the smallest traces of blood are present. Sterile gloves are designed from a variety of materials; however, the most common type of gloves used in the tattooing industry are sterile latex gloves. These gloves are ones that are also meant to be used one time and then disposed of properly. If the gloves are punctured by a needle or in any other way become compromised, they should be disposed of immediately and a new pair should be donned before any further work is completed, so for this reason, it is a good idea to buy these gloves in bulk quantities. Sterile gloves come in a variety of sizes and there are also sterile latex-free gloves that are available for those with a skin sensitivity to latex as well.

 Tattoo Grips

Tattoo grips are another common item that is sold in professional tattoo kits. It is a component that is considered optional equipment for some people and is meant to provide a better hold on the tube so that the fingers do not slide down the tube, much in the same way some pens or pencils come with an attached grip. Grips, and any other piece of equipment used in the tattooing process should be sterilized in the proper manner before being reused.

 Flash Sheets

Flash sheets are often an extra component that comes with a professional tattoo kit that might not be found in most basic starter kits. Flash sheets are basically samples of artwork that a tattoo artist displays of designs that they are able to duplicate on the skin of a person. These can be used as signature pieces of the tattoo artist and are also able to help give the person looking for a tattoo an idea of what types of tattoos are available.
